The site was previously owned by the U.S. Military, with Camp Kilmer located there until it was deactivated in 1949. In 1970 parts of the land was given to Edison as part of BRAC. This plot of land currently houses the Angels Field.
The Edison Angels Girls Fastpitch Softball League used the field for over 20 years. But they closed down and the field is no longer in use.
Hence, the Township plans to convert the fields so that the community at large can use it.
The proposed improvement project is expected to be completed in a single phase.
Community members are encouraged to attend a public hearing to learn more about the proposal and to ask questions or provide comments on the proposed plan on Wednesday, Jan. 24, at 7 p.m.
The meeting will be held in-person at 100 Municipal Boulevard, Edison.
Written comments on the proposed application may be directed to Cheryl Russomanno, Township Clerk, crussomanno@edisonnj.gov, 100 Municipal Boulevard, Edison.
