Lightning Strikes Edison Home, Fire Officials Say

No one was injured during the Saturday morning storm, officials said.

EDISON, NJ — An Edison home sustained significant damage when it was struck by lightning Saturday morning, fire officials said.

The 5 Sarah Court home was struck around 7:20 a.m. during a heavy thunderstorm, Edison Fire Capt. Andy Toth said. The family left the home after smelling smoke upstairs, and all were uninjured.

The lightning badly damaged the roof, attic and second floor, and a fire was put out using thermal imaging technology, Toth said.
