EDISON, NJ - Another water main break was discovered in Edison as crews worked to repair the previous one, Mayor Sam Joshi said over the weekend.

The break occurred near the area of Eardley Road as crews worked to repair the 20-inch main, they identified another damaged 12-inch pipe connecting to a 20-inch concrete main that was made during the World War, Joshi said.

"Our contractor is prepared to install a line stop in the main. Once the line stop is in place, we can move forward with repairing the 12-inch pipe. After the repair is completed, the distribution system will be fully energized, and normal flow will be restored," the Mayor said.

Fire hydrants were opened up to alleviate the water pressure while work was being done.

"Our crews went door to door on the morning and evening of December 28, 2024 on 8 different streets in the area of Edison High School and delivered water to residents as well," Joshi said.

Residencies on M Lane, N Lane, and L Lanes have had no water flow for over four days. In addition, these properties have had limited access to enter and exit their homes.

The township authorized those affected residents a one night, one room hotel accommodation with shuttle services to and from a local hotel.
