EDISON, NJ — We all know student athletes who also bring their A-game to other parts of their lives.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know the individual stories behind the leaderboard.

This submission comes from Jerry, who nominated Jack of Edison-Metuchen. Jerry is the Athletic Director at Jack's school, and tells Patch why the student athlete should be recognized.

Came to STA as a soccer player. Converted to football to try to be the placekicker and our punter. Self-taught with the assistance of Mr. Robert Merski, he developed into one of the top kickers in the area. Only a Junior, he already is getting interest from many colleges
