Two people were arrested in South Carolina in connection to the Dec. 20 murder in Edison.

EDISON, NJ — Two people were arrested Thursday in connection to a murder at an Edison gas station at the end of December, Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey said.

Marcus A. Wright and Olya Quinnam, both 22, from Beaufort, South Carolina, were arrested in their home state. Wright has been charged with first degree murder, according to Carey.

John Bertram, 38, from Fords, was fatally shot around 4 a.m. on Dec. 20 while working at the Speedway Gas Station on Amboy Ave, Carey said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Wright is accused of entering the gas station while Quinnam waited outside, Carey said. Wright allegedly held up the store with a handgun; he is accused of shooting Bertram after the victim handed over a cash register drawer with money inside of it.

Both Wright and Quinnam are in South Carolina, awaiting extradition to New Jersey. Wright was also charged with first degree armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. Quinnam has been charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery and hindering apprehension.
