Pedestrian Struck, Killed By NJ Transit Train In Fair Lawn

FAIR LAWN, NJ - A male pedestrian was fatally struck by a NJ Transit train Thursday evening in Fair Lawn, authorities said.
The incident took place at 6:52 p.m. west of Radburn Station in Fair Lawn and involved a Bergen County Line train, a spokesperson for NJ Transit told Patch.
The train departed from Hoboken at 6:23 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Suffern, New York at 7:22 p.m., the spokesperson said.

The identity of the victim has not been made public as of Friday morning.
There were no injuries reported to the approximately 300 customers or crew on board at the time of the incident, the spokesperson said. New Jersey Transit Police are leading the investigation.

Trains were subject to 30-minute delays in the area as of 8 p.m. Fair Lawn Avenue was also closed in both directions at Plaza Road and Pollitt Drive as a result of the incident, police said.
