Truck Driver Charged In Fatal Hasbrouck Heights Crash
A Hasbrouck Heights man was killed Monday after his motorcycle collided with a truck on Route 17, authorities said.
HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ - A truck driver from Nanuet, NY charges after authorities say he struck and killed a motorcyclist Monday afternoon in Hasbrouck Heights.
Around 3:15 p.m., police were dispatched to Route 17 South by Franklin Avenue on a report of a serious crash, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.
Further investigation revealed Jonathan Lacher, 50, was traveling south on Route 17 in a garbage truck when he struck a Kawasaki ZX-14 motorcycle, operated by 52 year old Nuri Kaloshi of Hasbrouck Heights, that was traveling west on Franklin Avenue crossing the highway, the prosecutor's office said.

Kaloshi was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, according to authorities.
Lacher, who authorities said stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, was charged with careless driving and failure to observe road signals. He was released pending an upcoming appearance in municipal court.

The prosecutor's office said it is continuing to investigate the crash and that Lacher has not been issued any criminal charges at this time.
