FTHS Peer Leaders Win Alzheimer’s Association of Greater New Jersey School Spirit Award
Freehold Township students raised thousands of dollars for Alzheimer's care, support and research.

announced today that the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater New Jersey awarded the Peer Leaders with the 2011 School Spirit Award. The Township Peer Leaders raised the most funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research within the Southern Regional Walk competition and were one of 27 other school teams in this year’s competition.
“It is so exciting to be in a school where students are so passionate about making a difference for such a worthy cause,” shared Associate Director, Leslie McNamara.
Since 2006, the students have raised $72,880 for programs and services to support individuals with Alzheimer’s disease.

“This year our students raised $7,304. We are extremely proud of them and congratulate them on their accomplishments,” shared Supervisor of Extracurricular Activities, Patrick McEvoy.
There was a level of personal passion behind the efforts of the students as many have relatives battling Alzheimer’s disease. Jacqueline Benevento, Adam Schwartz, Katlyn Nielsen, Monica Meiterman and Matthew Martin each raised more than $200 individually.
