Township Census Count Leads to Liquor License Opening
2010 Census count allows Township Committee to pass a resolution that allows one more Plenary Retail Consumption License to be issued to a Township dining establishment.

Freehold Township will soon be excepting bids for local restaurants that want to serve liquor. Results from the 2010 Census have determined that Freehold Township is eligible to have a total of 12 establishments with the Plenary Retail Consumption License.
Currently, the Township has 11 restaurants/dining facilities with the license, leaving one more spot open for an establishment to start serving liquor.
At the Jan. 31 , the committee passed a resolution that will determine which establishment will receive the last open Plenary Retail Consumption License.

The resolution states that the last license will be granted to the highest qualified bidder under the “Public Bidding Option”. In order for an establishment to enter into the bidding war, they first need to qualify under the resolution’s conditions, such as being able to seat at least 100 people. Additionally, the resolution states that the minimum bid for a Plenary Retail License will be considered 1.3 million dollars. All application forms are due to the Township Clerk before 10 a.m. on April 23. Prequalification will be publicly announced at 10a.m. on April 27.
