MANSFIELD, NJ — Local police departments often help residents track down lost dogs or cats.... or in this case, a lost donkey who police say is on a "summer adventure."

The sweet donkey, pictured above, went missing Friday morning in the area of Jackson Valley and Westervelt Road.

"He is very calm so he shouldn't run off if approached. We believe he may have gotten loose so if you have seen him on his summer adventure please let us know so we can get him home safe and sound," police wrote.

It's not every day police try and track down a donkey, they admitted. "This is a first for us but here at MTPD we are all about reuniting animals to their owners," Mansfield police said.

If you see the donkey, please call 908-852-0003.
