A 32-year-old motorcycle rider died on Sunday afternoon after he was hit by a falling tree along Route 46, state police said.

WHITE TOWNSHIP, NJ — State police said a 32-year-old Warren County man died after a tree fell onto the highway while he was riding his motorcycle Sunday afternoon, causing the bike to overturn.

Troopers responded to the crash on U.S. Highway 46 in White Township just before 4 p.m., said State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron. According to investigators, 32-year-old Travis Worrell of Hackettstown was westbound on the highway, when a tree fell and struck him near Milepost 11.8.

The impact caused the Honda motorcycle to overturn, ejecting Worrell from the vehicle. He sustained fatal injuries in the crash, Lebron said.
