Hackettstown Teen's Art Displayed In U.S. Capitol
The local high schooler's art will hang in the U.S. Capitol for a year after winning an art contest.

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ — Hackettstown teen Elise Leinaweaver will have a piece of her art hang in the U.S. Capitol for the next year after winning the 2019 Congressional Art Competition.
Leinaweaver won the 5th District competition for her piece, "Self Portrait #2." She will receive round-rip tickets to Washington, D.C. for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and reception for the new display in June.
Leinaweaver is a senior at Hackettstown High School.

“I was proud to host this year’s Fifth District Congressional Art Competition and Art Competition Showcase. The talent and dedication of these young artists never ceases to amaze me,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer. “Congratulations to this year’s winner, Elise Leinaweaver from Hackettstown High School, and each of the dedicated young artists who submitted their artwork. I’m looking forward to bringing a little more of the Fifth District back with me to Washington, and seeing what these incredible North Jersey artists do next.”
Jasmine Kang, a junior at Bergen County Academy from River Vale, came in second with her piece, "Coffee Break For All" (pictured below).
