Man Arrested After Shooting Self With BB Gun, Cops Say

Accident leads to shooter's arrest.

A Hackettstown man found himself in a painful situation when he was arrested Wednesday after accidentally shooting himself in the hand with a BB gun last week.

Robert Bierbaum, 39, was charged with possession of a handgun and owning a weapon while being a convicted felon, according to Sgt. Darren Tynan.

Police responded to Hackettstown Regional Medical Center on Aug. 17 on a report of a man who had shot himself in the hand. When officers arrived, they found that Bierbaum had shot himself with a Daisy Powerline BB Gun by accident and did not have a firearms ID, according to Tynan.

Bierbaum was transported to the Warren County Correctional Facility Wednesday in lieu of $7,500 bail.
