Man Charged After Firing Shots Into North Jersey Home, Police Say
The accused refused to be fingerprinted during processing, police said.
WARREN COUNTY, NJ — A man has been arrested after firing a gun at a Phillipsburg residence, according to the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.
On Wednesday, around 2:30 a.m., Phillipsburg police responded to a report of a shooting near the 100 block of Lewis Street.
Investigators found that two gunshots were fired into an occupied residence in the area.

Video footage revealed that the shooter had been Matthew R. Dawe, 32, of Phillipsburg, according to officials.
No injuries were reported from the shooting.

Later that morning, police executed a search warrant at Dawe’s home and found a loaded .40-caliber Taurus handgun in his possession, according to authorities.
Dawe was arrested and refused fingerprinting during processing, police said.
He was charged with possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, certain person not to possess a weapon, and refusal to fingerprint.
Dawe is currently being held in the Warren County Correctional Center in Belvidere, awaiting an Aug. 4 pretrial detention hearing.
He faces up to 40 years in prison if convicted of the weapons and assault charges.
