Man Charged With Possessing Counterfeit Cash: Hackettstown Police
Kendel T. Sabal of New York, was charged with possessing $500 in counterfeit money, police said.
HACKETTSTOWN, NJ — A New York City man was charged for having counterfeit bills after he tried to return items at an AutoZone store that were purchased with bogus cash at another AutoZone location, according to the Hackettstown Police Department.
Kendel T. Sabal, 28, of New York, was charged with possessing counterfeit bills, driving without a license and having an expired vehicle registration stemming from an incident Thursday, Hackettstown police said Monday.
Sabal was released from custody after being charged. It is unclear whether bail was set. He is slated to reappear in court on an unspecified date, police spokesperson Darren Tynan said.

Hackettstown police learned from Washington Township police in Warren County on Thursday at about 7 p.m. that a man had left a store there and was driving on Route 57 toward Hackettstown, Tynan said.
Washington Township police said the man bought items at the AutoZone in Allentown, Pennsylvania, using counterfeit money, then tried to buy products from the AutoZone stores in Lopatcong and Washington Township also with counterfeit bills, Tynan said.

When Hackettstown police officers arrived to the Hackettstown store, they found Sabal with $500 in counterfeit currency, Tynan said.
