Mount Olive Rookie Cop Graduates To The Streets

Police Officer Rick LaRicci assumed full patrol duties on September 6.

A Morris County native recently accepted full patrol duties on September 6, after graduating from the police academy and completing the mandatory Field Training Program in Mount Olive. The Mount Olive Township Police Department announced the latest officer to join the ranks, Patrol Officer Rick LaRicci, currently a resident of Wharton.

A mandatory requirement of being a Mount Olive police officer is taking part in a rigorous 3-month field training program.

“Rookie officers must successfully meet the 597 training objectives that cover a multitude of police activities, laws, policies and procedures," said Chief Stephen Beecher.

Officer LaRicci graduated from Morris Knolls High School in Denville in 2006 and was a member of the Morris Knolls State Championship Football team. He then graduated from the County College of Morris in 2013 after studying Criminal Justice. A former Corrections Officer with the Morris County Sherriff’s Office, Officer LaRicci began training at the Morris County Police Academy earlier this year.
