Theater in Warren County thrives with "You Can't Take It With You"

At the John B. LaPorta Theater, students at Warren County Technical are performing the classic comedy "You Can't Take it With You"

December 12, 2015, Washington, NJ - Appearing at the John B. LaPorta Theater, the students at Warren County Technical are currently performing the classic comedy “You Can’t Take It With You” by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman.


What happens when three generations of an eccentric extended family, each more delightfully quirky than the last, all live under one roof? Better still...What happens when the youngest daughter gets engaged to the scion of a wealthy socialite family? Well, when the future in-laws meet for the first time, the result is a dinner party none of them will soon forget.

The 20 students in this production not only perform but also serve as stage crew, lighting, set design and stage management. Their passion for the program shows in their wonderful performance.

“You Can’t Take It With You” premiered on Broadway on December 14, 1936, enjoyed a successful two-year run, and was awarded the 1937 Pulitzer Prize for drama.

Warren Tech’s Theater Department program includes everything from performance skills to the academic base of historical and dramaturgical perspective, as well as the behind-the-scenes work of technicians, designers, publicists, and producers, the students are exposed to every facet of theatrical production, thereby gaining a true appreciation not only of the arts, but of the collaborative process inherent to all businesses.
