Vietnam Vet, Hackettstown Firefighter, Grandfather Dies At 68
Lifelong Hackettstown resident was the night supervisor at Home Depot.

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – John Zellars spent most of his live serving others and putting himself on the line.
The lifelong Hackettstown resident died recently at the age of 68.
Zellars served in the United States Army and fought in Vietnam from 1967 to 1969. Zellars is the former owner of the Hackettstown Gulf Gas Station on Main Street and most recently worked as the night supervisor at Home Depot in Mansfield Township.

Zellars was an active member of the Cataract Hose Fire Department in Hackettstown and served as the town fire marshal for many years.
He is survived by his mother, two sons, and five grandchildren.

Viewing hours will be held at Cochran Funeral Home Monday, May 16 from 5 to 8 p.m. on High Street in Hackettstown.
Memorial donations may be made to the Hackettstown Fire Department or the Wounded Warrior Project.
