WATCH: Cat Trapped in Truck Engine for 28 Miles Adopted by Family

'MARS' lands safely with new caretakers after harrowing ordeal earlier this month.

Less than two weeks after a small cat was trapped inside a pickup truck’s engine and traveled from Pennsylvania to New Jersey, the feline now has a new family and a new home.

The cat, which was found by a MARS Chocolate North America employee when he parked his car in the company’s Hackettstown parking lot after leaving from his East Stroudsburg home, was uninjured but orphaned as a result of the trip.

The kitten was named MARS in the interim while it stayed at Common Sense for Animals in New Village until it was adopted on Sunday, July 12, just 10 days after the harrowing ordeal.

Jennifer Blunts, her boyfriend John Tegethoff, and his daughter Kimberly Tegethoff, residents of Kunkletown, Pennsylvania, contacted Hackettstown’s Animal Control Officer Kim Bennett about adopting the kitting.

Arrangements were made and on Sunday, the family gained a new member and the cat found a new home.

MARS Petcare paid for the adoption cost and provided a year’s supply of cat food to the family, which, in turn, donated to the animal shelter.
