Rain-Gutter Theft Spree Continues
Two more downspouts reported stolen last week, seven this month.

Four more rain-gutter thefts were reported in Haddonfield in the last two weeks. The brazen thefts have been especially prevalent in the Lizzie Haddon section of town, west of Kings Highway, along the West End Avenue corridor.
Seven similar thefts have been reported this month and 10 since August 24. Police said thieves are focusing on downspouts made of copper, which have a high value as scrap metal.
Two, 10-foot sections of copper downspouts were reported stolen on Thursday, Oct. 27, in the 300 block of Bellevue Avenue, in the Lizzie Haddon section of the borough. A similar theft, in the same block, was reported on Oct. 11.

On Wednesday, the day before, a 20-foot section of downspout was reported stolen from a home in the 100 block of Winding Way, in another section of town. Two more were reported the week before, on Oct. 20 in the 400 block of West End Ave. and at the Linden Manor Apartments, in the unit block of Linden Ave.
Haddonfield Police Lt. Ted Stussey said Friday that they have no suspects at this time. He said borough residents should call police if they see something suspicious.

Nearly two-dozen similar thefts of copper downspouts have been reported over the last year, including copper rain gutters from the First Baptist Church on Kings Highway last December. No arrests have been reported.
