Suspect in Car Theft Chase Still on the Loose
Police Wednesday said they have identified the suspect, who was known to the vehicle owner.
The search for an alleged car thief continued Wednesday after the suspect fled on foot in the area of Grove Street and Hopkins Avenue shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Police said Wednesday they have identified the suspect, who is known to the owner of the car. The suspect was only described as a Hispanic male in his early 20s. Police Lt. Ted Stussey said the suspect was not armed. A published report on the website of a local newspaper said the suspect was "potentially armed."
The car was taken from the driveway of a home in the 200 block of Chestnut Street shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday. It was spotted around 5 p.m. by Cherry Hill police on Grove Street, near the Haddonfield border with Cherry Hill. Cherry Hill police began pursuit of the vehicle, which was not described as a high-speed pursuit by Stussey. Haddonfield police picked up the pursuit when the car entered the borough when the suspect abandonded the car and fled on foot.

A published report said the suspect ran through backyards on Merion and Windsor avenues.
