1,000 Without Power In Hillsborough/Montgomery Area

The high winds have also caused trees and utility poles to topple in the area.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — The Hillsborough and Montgomery area is being hit hard by this pre-Christmas storm with power outages climbing to more than 1,000 customers impacted.

JCP&L is reporting more than 450 customers are without power in Hillsborough and PSE&G is reporting more than 300 are without power in Montgomery.

PSE&G estimates power will be restored around 4:15, while JCP&L does not have an estimated time.

Widespread winds will gust 40-50 mph throughout Friday, hitting 50-60 mph in some areas, the National Weather Service says. The strongest gusts increase the potential for wind damage and power outages.

The high winds have also caused road closures in the area.

Montgomery Road is closed between Amwell Road and Wertsville Road as of 3 p.m., the township said in an alert.

Arcing wires and a downed tree have also caused 3 Bridges Road to close between Hockenbury Road and Woodfern Road.
