$505K Grant Awarded To Improve Farm Road In Hillsborough

The grant was awarded from the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) Fiscal Year 2026 Municipal Aid Program.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — The Township has been selected to receive a grant for $505,903 from the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) Fiscal Year 2026 Municipal Aid Program, for improvements to Farm Road.

The NJDOT grant will fund the majority of the Farm Road project, with the remaining balance covered by the Hillsborough road bond.

Improvements include upgrading sidewalk ramps at intersections to meet the latest ADA handicap standards and installing enhanced crosswalks.

Work also includes the milling and paving of the whole length from Route 206 to Triangle Road, said Mayor John Ciccarelli at the Tuesday Committee meeting.

"Hillsborough is proud to receive one of the top grant awards in the County," said Ciccarelli. "Residents have been asking about repairs to Farm Road, and thanks to this critical funding, we can move forward with these necessary improvements that prioritize safety and accessibility."

The next phase involves the Township Consultant preparing detailed plans and specifications.

Following NJDOT review and approval, the Township will proceed with a public bid process. This preparation phase is expected to take several months, with construction anticipated to begin in late 2026.
