Summer is coming to a close, and parents in Hillsborough can mark the first day of school that is quickly approaching.
HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Back-to-school planning has already begun in Hillsborough, with calendars available to help parents prepare for the first day in Hillsborough Township Public Schools for the 2025-26 school year.
The first day of school for most students in Hillsborough is Thursday, Sept. 4.
Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates are subject to change. Here is the list of dates to know for this school year:

- Rosh Hashanah: Sept. 23 - Schools Closed
- Yom Kippur: Oct. 2 - Schools Closed
- Diwali - Oct. 20 - Schools Closed
- Election Day - Nov. 4 - Schools Closed
- NJEA Convention: Nov. 6 and 7 - Schools Closed
- Thanksgiving Break: Nov. 26 (Half Day), Nov. 27 and 28 (Closed)
- Winter Break: Dec. 23 (Half Day), Dec. 24 through Jan. 2(Closed)
- MLK: Jan. 19 - Schools Closed
