Community Mourns Death Of Hillsborough's First Ever Police Officer

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — The Hillsborough community is mourning the death of its first ever police officer and former police chief on Tuesday.

"It is with great sadness the members of Local 205 announce the passing of not only our former chief of police but Hillsborough’s 1st police officer ever. Chief Donald Dowches will be remembered for his dedication and service to his community. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family," said Hillsborough PBA 205.

"It's with a heavy heart that Hillsborough Township is offering our deepest condolences to the family and friends of former Police Chief Donald Dowches," said Hillsborough Township.

"Very sad day for the Boro. Thank you for your service," said Committeeman Doug Tomson.
