Email Scam Targeting Hillsborough Planning, Zoning Board Applicants
The scammers use the municipality's logo and staff names, and demand substantial fees via wire transfer, said township officials.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — The Township is warning the community about a new email scam involving fraudsters creating and sending phony invoices to Planning and Zoning Board applicants.
"These scammers copy Board agendas, use the municipality's logo and staff names, and demand substantial fees via wire transfer to hear applications," stated the township.
The Township reminded applicants that it does not accept wire transfers.
"Please be aware of this scam and remember that Hillsborough Township DOES NOT accept wire transfers for any type of payment," said the Township.
