Hillsborough Comedian Bonnie McFarlane Gets New TV Series

The scripted comedy series "You're Better Than Me" is based on McFarlane's memoir about growing up in Canada.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Hillsborough resident and comedian Bonnie McFarlane has just landed her own new scripted comedy series "You’re Better Than Me" based on her memoir with Cineflix Productions.

The new series follows McFarlane's life as a high schooler growing up in Canada in the mid-1980s.

McFarlane serves as the creator and writer for the half-hour long episode series.

"You’re Better Than Me is set in the world of pre-cell phone, pre-internet, 1980s small-town Canada, but the themes of acceptance, friendship, and family are universal, and will appeal to a wide audience," stated Jeff Vanderwal, Vice President, Scripted, Cineflix Productions in a release.

McFarlane is known for appearing on David Letterman and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. She also has an HBO special, two Comedy Central specials, and a myriad of other credits to her name. She also directed the award-winning documentary Women Aren’t Funny, featuring comedians such as Joan Rivers and Sarah Silverman.
