Hillsborough Committeewoman Endorses Jill Gomez for Township Committee

Letter to the Editor:

As the only Democrat on the Hillsborough Township Committee, almost all of my ideas and proposals have been dismissed by my Republican colleagues.

Over the past three years, the Township Committee has consistently raised property taxes to fund a $7.5 million increase in the municipal budget, resulting in a 37% property tax increase. They also increased the town’s debt service by more than 300% and most recently voted to raise building permit fees despite bipartisan opposition and the department’s six-figure surplus in 2024.

I have disagreed with these decisions, but I can’t have meaningful input on this committee alone. This is why it is critical to have Jill Gomez join me on the Hillsborough Township Committee.

I know Jill shares my commitment to fiscal responsibility in these difficult times. She shares my resolve to ask tough questions and demand answers from our peers.

We share not only a sense of community but a responsibility to make Hillsborough more affordable.

Jill’s enthusiasm transcends politics. Her family and lifelong friends know she will serve all the voters of Hillsborough, day in and day out, giving it her all.

I am confident that Jill will be a great member of the Township Committee and work with me to lower costs for residents.

It is my honor to endorse her for election to this office.
