Rising Water, Rain Close Griggstown Causeway In Somerset County

MONTGOMERY, NJ — Griggstown Causeway is closed on Friday due to rising waters from the rain, Somerset County Public Safety announced around 2 p.m.

The Millstone River at Griggstown is already at the action stage and approaching the minor flooding stage, according to the National Weather Service.

The river is currently 9.91 feet high just under the 10-foot flooding stage.

Drivers should seek an alternate route.

Friday Afternoon: A chance of rain, mainly before 5 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 46. Northwest wind around 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Friday Night: Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 29. West wind 10 to 15 mph.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 41. West wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 23. West wind around 5 mph.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 38. West wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 25.
