Samantha Helps Hillsborough Make 'Leaps And Bounds' In Female Sports

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Without community leaders, Hillsborough wouldn’t hum along nearly as smoothly as it does. We’d miss their contributions in big and small ways.

Patch has partnered with T-Mobile to recognize these often unsung community leaders and celebrate their contributions.

What does this community leader do?

Hillsborough Township has made leaps and bounds over the years in improving female-led sports accessibility for girls grades K-12. Growth of programs such as field hockey and girls lacrosse would not be the township successes they are today without the help (and heart) of Samantha Hand. It was essential to grow quality feeder programs for both of these sports to offer engaging experiences for players to thrive and perform at higher levels of play. Sports activities and a team environment are essential components of a well-rounded childhood for many township girls. Samantha worked her magic administratively to accommodate larger rosters through networking and better programs to train team coaches. Additionally, her true grit took center stage on the field through coaching her daughters’ teams in both sports. The beacon of Samantha’s is always to “help create great humans”. If your child was on Samantha’s field for either Jr Raiders Lacrosse or Field Hockey, there was no doubt that this player was being taught proper sports fundamentals in an inclusive, safe environment. Your child was taught true sportsmanship and the value of working as a team. I have had the privilege of working alongside Samantha within these programs with her additionally coaching my own daughter along the road of her own sports journey. Enlisting Samantha’s energy and dedication to benefit the greater good creates big results that align with our community’s growing needs for its women of the future.
