County Pedestrian Safety Project Rolls Forward with New Website

Sussex County planners have their hands full with the in-progress Complete Streets pedestrian safety pilot project and they want the public's help. A new website is up to show the public the plans for several transportation ideas and to gather feedback, the New Jersey Herald reported.

The Complete Streets site includes videos of projects and statements from Sussex County Planner Eric Snyder, who discusses the possibilities for each of the planned projects. The article said plans include two Hopatcong pedestrian-safety projects: One would install crosswalks and traffic signals at Hopatchung Road and Sharp Street and along North River Styx Road to the Brooklyn-Stanhope Road; another would widen River Styx Road.

The site also presents information on the Complete Streets program and features a separate informational page for each of the pilot projects, along with an online questionnaire asking residents to share their ideas on the projects and to fill out information on their transportation practices. The project is paid for through a grant from the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority, the article said.
