HOPATCONG, NJ - They never hesitated. A trio of Hopatcong Police officers rushed into the maw of a smoking car wreck and pulled the driver to safety last Wednesday, according to authorities.
Patrolman Gerald Mancuso, Patrolman Mathew Kondreck, and Patrolman Daniel Campione responded to a rollover, entrapment, and smoke condition call and when they arrived found heavy smoke coming from the engine compartment of the crashed car.
Mancuso was able to cut the driver free and remove him from the vehicle and the trio worked together and carried the driver to safety. The officers were also able to remove the driver's dog without harm as well.
