No Chicken For You: Boston Market In Howell Still Closed

An eviction notice was served on the comfort food eatery in Aldrich Plaza, but the company said it is "actively working" with the landlord.

HOWELL, NJ—Company officials have confirmed that Boston Market on Route 9 in Howell is still closed, but the company is in communication with the eatery's landlord.

"We are aware of the situation at our Howell location and are actively working with our landlord on a resolution so Boston Market can continue serving the community," said Meagan Byrne, a company spokesperson, on Wednesday.

The store is in Aldrich Plaza in Howell. The management company for Aldrich Plaza, Levin Management, did not immediately return a request for comment.

The location was given an eviction notice, but there was no issue with the township that would have any bearing on the closure, said Matthew Howard, the director of community development. He said it appears to be a private matter.

Levin Management Corporation, North Plainfield, serves as exclusive leasing and managing agent for the 128,000-square-foot Aldrich Plaza, located on Route 9.

Anchored by Walgreens, Aldrich Plaza’s national and regional tenants apart from Boston Market include Retro Fitness, GNC, AT&T, Bubbakoo’s Burritos, Norman’s Hallmark, RE/MAX real estate and Big City Bagels & Salads. Neighborhood conveniences such as a dentist, pizzeria, optician, liquor store, dance and karate studios, coffee and ice cream shops, and a dry cleaner, among others are the other tenants.

There are two remaining Boston Markets in the area, one in Shrewsbury and one in Toms River.
