Substance Abuse Trends To Be Topic Of Howell Business Meeting

Howell Alliance Coordinator Christa Riddle is the guest speaker at Tuesday's Howell Chamber of Commerce lunch.

HOWELL, NJ — The Howell Chamber of Commerce networking lunch will host Christa Riddle, coordinator of the Howell Alliance, who will offer an overview of substance abuse trends in the community, the chamber announced.

The event is Tuesday, Oct. 3, at noon at The Chapter House restaurant, 1454 Route 9 south in Howell.

Riddle earlier this year briefed the Township Council on the many initiatives underway or under discussion to respond to various substance abuse and mental health concerns in the community and schools, and she updates the council regularly.

She described various strategies for a "community-driven response." You can read more about the initiatives here.

She said Howell Alliance also partners with community organizations and members to implement “in-house” prevention programs tailored to specific community needs.

And the Alliance offers many programs for the community, such as lifesaving Narcan training.

Underage vaping, tobacco use and other issues such as suicide prevention all are addressed through the Howell Alliance. You can read more about the Alliance at the township website or check out its Facebook page for information on programs and more statistics about the issue.

Regarding the lunch, the cost to attend is $5 for members, $10 for not-yet members. Pay in cash only at the luncheon. Purchase lunch from the restaurant in consideration for using the space for the meeting.

Not-yet members are welcome to attend up to two chamber meetings/events.
