Addams was born and raised in Westfield in the 1910s and was a famed cartoonist of his time, being published in the New Yorker and creating the wildly popular cartoon "The Addams Family." The cartoon was based in his hometown of Westfield and gained such a following over the decades that it was made into a TV series in the 1960s, a movie franchise, Broadway musical and animated film.
Westfield started the Addamsfest events about three years ago to celebrate Addams work while celebrating the Halloween season, fitting for his aesthetic.
