Hudson County Native Promoted To Navy Chief Petty Officer

Wilson Chun is a machinst's mate responsible for maintaining, and repairing propulsion, food preparation, elevators, and laundry equipment.

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — A West New York native was promoted to the rank of Navy chief petty officer recently.

Chief Petty Officer Wilson Chun, a Memorial High School alumnus, is a machinist's mate at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center in Virginia. Chun is responsible for maintaining and repairing ship propulsion machinery, steering engines, hoisting machinery, and food preparation, refrigeration, and air conditioning equipment.

Chun was one of 16 other sailors stationed at the maintenance center who recently earned their chief anchors.

More than 1,500 sailors are stationed at the maintenance center. They help maintain and repair equipment to ships in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States.
