Man Guilty Of Sexually Assaulting North Bergen Girl Under 10: Prosecutor

A jury found a Bergen County man guilty of having sexually assaulted a North Bergen girl a decade ago, prosecutors said.

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — A Bergen County man has been convicted of sexually assaulting a North Bergen girl when she was under 10, prosecutors said.

Carlos Perez, 59, of Palisades Park, was found guilty Wednesday of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child, said the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.

Prosecutors said that a jury convicted Perez of the crimes after a three-day trial.

The crimes were committed against the girl at a North Bergen residence between 2013 and 2015, prosecutors said. The girl was under 10 at the time.

Sentencing is tentatively scheduled for Oct. 31, prosecutors said.

Perez faces 25 years to life in New Jersey State Prison and is subject to Megan’s Law sex offender registration, Parole Supervision for Life,
and Nicole’s Law Restraining Order, prosecutors said.
