Argument Ends In Fatal Stabbing On Jersey City Street, Officials Say

A man was stabbed to death in Jersey City Friday after an "interpersonal dispute," a councilman said.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — A man was stabbed to death on a Jersey City street on Friday afternoon after an "interpersonal dispute," according to Councilman James Solomon.

"The initial investigation shows that an interpersonal dispute escalated to a stabbing and a loss of life," the Ward E councilman said in a 4 p.m. social media post.

Solomon noted the stabbing took place on Maxwell Street, a short street in the historic downtown district in Ward E.

The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office confirmed the investigation late on Friday, noting that their office was coordinating with the Jersey City Police and more information would be forthcoming.

Solomon said that the police had a suspect in custody.
