Man Who Killed Wife And Mother Of 2 Gets Sentenced: Hudson County Prosecutor

A man who killed his wife in Hudson County in 2022 has been sentenced, Hudson County prosecutors said.

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — A man was sentenced on Friday for his role in the fatal stabbing of his wife in Bayonne in 2022, prosecutors said.

Peter Revelo, 35, of Bayonne had previously pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter in the stabbing of Mely Vanessa Tafoya Mendoza in of Bayonne in 2022, said Hudson County prosecutors.

He was sentenced Friday by Judge Mitzy Galis-Menendez to 20 years in New Jersey State Prison, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors said that just before noon on that Wednesday in 2022, Bayonne police received a 911 call for an incident at 105 North St.

Officers found Mendoza, 33, with an apparent stab wound to her torso, prosecutors said. She was pronounced dead at the scene just after 12:30.

According to a GoFundMe and an obituary, Mendoza was the mother of two daughters who attended public school in Bayonne.

She had recently moved to Bayonne from California, where she worked with a county mental health services agency, helping families and children.

Revelo's sentence is subject to the No Early Release Act, and 85 percent of the prison time must be served before he can become eligible for parole, prosecutors said.
