Bayside Community Center Plan to Advance Thanks to $1 Million in Federal Funding (tapinto.net) — Jersey City has secured $1 million in federal American Rescue Plan funding to move forward with the long-awaited Bayside Community Center in Bayside Park, Greenville. Planned as the first of six new centers citywide, the facility will offer flexible spaces for youth programs, wellness activities, education, and community services, with 2026 public meetings giving residents a strong voice in the final design.
   

2. 23 Jersey City Nonprofits Share in Opioid Settlement Funds (tapinto.net) — Jersey City has awarded 2026 Opioid Settlement Fund grants to 23 local nonprofits working on youth opioid prevention, mental health, and STEAM-based programming. City officials say the competitively selected programs reflect a compassionate, evidence-based approach to the opioid crisis and highlight Jersey City’s commitment to protecting young people and strengthening families.
   

3. Kennedy and the Merrimack Warriors take on conference foe Saint Peter's (wtop.com) — Saint Peter’s men’s basketball hosts Merrimack in Jersey City this Sunday at 2 p.m., putting their strong 6-1 home record on the line. Local fans can expect a tight MAAC matchup, with both teams coming in hot and several double-figure scorers to watch on each side.
   

4. Kathy Wylde eyes new gig with Saudi's sovereign wealth fund (nypost.com) — Jersey City residents may note that Mayor Steven Fulop is set to finish his term on Jan. 15 before becoming head of the Partnership for New York City. That transition is part of a larger story about outgoing CEO Kathy Wylde, who is reportedly in early talks to advise Saudi Arabia’s powerful Public Investment Fund on US connections.
