Snow Day In Jersey City: Schools Are Closed Tuesday
With a slippery morning commute expected, Jersey City schools are closed Tuesday. See the message and find out what's predicted.
JERSEY CITY, NJ — With a measurable snowfall predicted for rush hour Tuesday morning in North Jersey, the Jersey City schools announced that Tuesday will be a Snow Day.
They said in a message to parents and staff, "Jersey City Public Schools will be closed tomorrow, January 16, 2024, due to the forecast for snow and icy rain. All essential personnel, like custodial and maintenance workers, must report to work at the regular time."
Up to 3 inches of snow are predicted from 9 a.m. Monday through early Tuesday morning. (For planning purposes, another few inches are currently predicted for Friday.)

Around the area, districts varied. The Hoboken schools actually took the time to post that they'll be...open. They said in a message, "While it isn't predicted to be enough to delay or close, it may be enough to slow us down...please be safe."
West of Hudson County, a few districts, including Millburn and Cranford, said they'd have a delayed opening.

The latest prediction after 8 p.m. Monday was that Hudson County get as much as 3 inches of snow from 9 p.m. until around 7 a.m., when it changes to a "wintry mix."
"Snow covered roads and visibility down to ½ mile at times Tonight into Tue PM," the NWS said in its latest powerpoint presentation. "Hazardous travel likely thru Tue Eve."
