Bow Wow Luau to Help Find Rescue Dogs Forever Homes

Camp Bow Wow of Lacey will hold its first annual luau adoption event and fundraiser on Sunday, July 29 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The doggie daycare and boarding facility recently started a foster dog program, partnering with local animal rescue organizations, which encouraged the business to hold the adoption event, Camp Scout Christina Jackson said.

“These organizations’ volunteers work tirelessly and selflessly to help animals in need,” she said. “Unfortunately there are a lot of dogs that have to be rescued and are in desperate need of loving homes, so what better way to help them then host a fun dog-friendly event where these dogs can meet their potential forever families.”

Local animal rescues participating in the luau include Blind Dog Rescue Alliance, South Jersey Boxer Rescue, SOS Beagle Rescue, Friends of Southern Ocean County Animal Shelter and A Tail to Tell Puppy Mill Rescue.

Adoptable dogs from the local shelters will be available at the luau for people to meet.

The primary goals of the luau are to have all the rescue dogs present adopted and to raise monetary donations to be split between the animal rescue organizations, she said.

The event also aligns with the business’s Bow Wow Buddies Foundation, which promotes providing a home as well as healthy and humane lives to all animals, Jackson said.

The event will feature fun and games including a beach-themed puppy photo booth manned by Michael Bagley, a photographer who captured pictures of two of Camp Bow Wow’s most recently and quickly adopted foster dogs. Camp Bow Wow is asking for a $5 donation for the photo booth. Proceeds from the photo booth will go toward the participating animal rescues.

The luau also will have demonstrations such as Dog Training 101, raffles with gifts from local companies, games and prizes, and dog and human treats.

Jackson said Camp Bow Wow also is hoping to expand its reach and let residents know that they’re in Lacey as well as give back to the businesses who have assisted the company by referring customers. Local businesses will have space as vendors at the luau.

Featured vendors include Berkeley Veterinary Hospital, Silver Cloud Harbor Marina, Personalized Dog Training, Thompson Chiropractic, Thirty One Gifts, Lacey Chamber of Commerce and MaryKay Cosmetics.

“We encourage any business looking to expand their customer base to contact us. There are a lot of complimentary benefits for businesses and vendors to participate,” Jackson said.

Vendors will get booth space to showcase their products and services and advertise with promo materials in the event Welcome Bags or with a raffle item or gift certificate.

The first 100 attendees will receive a Welcome Bag filled with treats.

Camp Bow Wow is located at 694 Challenger Way in Forked River.
