Lacey Cops Report Numerous Unlocked Car Burglaries, Chief Says
Most of the vehicles were parked in residents' driveways.

LACEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - Lacey police have reported a string of car burglaries from unlocked vehicles recently, Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said.
Oct. 24 - Officer Jason Lee responded to police headquarters at 5:37 pm. on a vehicle theft report. The victim told police that between 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 23, and 7:50 a.m. on Oct. 24, someone entered her vehicle and stole $400 in cash and a $10 check that were in her purse. The vehicle was unlocked and parked in the driveway of her Parkside Drive home in the 1700 block of Parkside Drive in Forked River.
Oct. 24 - Officer Daniel Ricciardella responded to police headquarters at 3:24 p.m. on a vehicle theft report. The victim told police that between 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 23, and 7:30 a.m. on Oct. 24, someone entered his vehicle and stole several items. The stolen items included a leather wallet containing $20 in cash, a debit card, and a New Jersey driver’s license. The vehicle was unlocked and parked in the driveway of his William Street residence in Forked River.

Oct. 24 - Officer Michael Hein responded to the 1600 block of Evans Road in Forked River on a vehicle burglary report. The victim told police preported that between 8:00 p.m. on October 23, 2017 and 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 24, someone entered her vehicle and stole $3 in loose change and four $1 bills from the center console. The vehicle was unlocked and parked in the driveway of the residence.
Oct. 20 - Officer Adam Ewart responded to the 1500 block of Arient Road in Forked River for a at 4:27 p.m. on a theft report. The victim reported that sometime between 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19 and 7 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 20, someone stole a 6’ aluminum step ladder and a shop vacuum from the bed of his pickup truck. The truck was parked in the street in front of his residence during the time of the incident. The total amount of the theft is estimated at $400.
