Lacey Middle School Teacher Announced as New Assistant Principal
Edward Subokow, former language arts teacher at Lacey Middle School, will serve as assistant principal under Jason King

The Lacey Township School District recently announced that Edward Subokow would be serving as the new assistant principal of .
“You may know Mr. Subokow as this year’s Lacey Middle School’s Teacher of the Year as he was recognized for his outstanding accomplishments in and out of the classroom,” Superintendent Dr. Sandra Brower said in an announcement on the school district website.
Subokow was a language arts teacher at the middle school and previously served as a high school English teacher prior to joining the Lacey Township School District, Brower said.

“Mr. Subokow will bring his successful classroom experiences to his new role as well as those he gained through his work as a teacher leader,” she said.
According to Subokow’s profile on the Lacey Middle School website, he has nine years of public education teaching experience in New Jersey. He earned his bachelor of science degree in English Education from Stockton State College and a master's in Administration and Supervision from Georgian Court University.

Subokow has served as the chair of the professional development committee and a member of the Principal’s Advisory Committee.
He also served as a Junior AADA (Association Against Drugs and Alcohol) adviser and S.A.D.D. (Students Against Destructive Decisions), showing that “it matters outside of the classroom as well,” Brower said. Both clubs work toward keeping students healthy and drug free.
Because of Subokow’s involvement with those organizations, he earned the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Citizens Award.
He "positively impacts the children of Lacey," former middle school Principal James Handschuch said as he awarded Subokow Teacher of the Year. "He is truly a gentleman and a gentle man."
Subokow will be serving under King was formerly the Lacey Middle School Assistant Principal and was recently appointed as the head administrator since
“We look forward to this exciting new leadership team,” Brower said. "We look forward to the many new and exciting things in store for our middle learners."
Subokow will be recommended for appointment to the Board of Education on Aug. 20 when his salary will also be voted on. Subokow previously made $56,141 as a teacher in 2010.
