"I look forward to this initiative while at the same time 'sporting' a full beard during the month of November," DiBella said. "At the conclusion of the event, the Lacey Police Department grooming policy will be back in full effect until next year’s No-Shave November."

Funds raised by the “Lacey Township Challenge” will go to charities including Prevent Cancer Foundation, Fight Colorectal Cancer, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Each participant will have a "before" picture taken on Oct. 30 and an "after" phot0 on Dec. 1 to mark their progress, DiBella said.

"I want to thank all of my police officers and the members of the emergency services for their dedication and assistance with this program," the chief said.
