Lacey Police Ramp Up Drunk Driving Patrols
Expect enhanced patrols through New Year's Day, police chief says

LACEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - Lacey police have set up additional patrols during the holiday season to crack down on drunk drivers and drug users.
"The danger presented to the public by motorists who choose to get behind the wheel of a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs is too often realized through a tragic motor vehicle collision," Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said.
The program began on Dec. 8 and will run through New Year's Day, thanks to a "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" grant from the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety, the chief said.

There have even been several fatalities related to drunk driving crashes in Lacey Township, DiBella said.
Alcohol-related crashes in the United States during 2014 killed 9,967 people in the United States, almost one third of all motor vehicle traffic fatalities.
The officers of the Lacey Township Police Department will continue to detect and deter DUI offenders through additional DUI Patrols, DiBella said.
