Man Tries To Hide Drug Paraphernalia During Lacey Traffic Stop

Two Forked River man facing heroin charges after motor vehicle stop.

LACEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - Lacey police recently charged two Forked River men with possession and intent to distribute heroin after a motor vehicle stop, Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said.

Lacey detectives made the stop at 8:40 p.m. on Nov. 21 in connection with an ongoing drug investigation, the chief said. Both men were suspected of transporting heroin.

Police arrested the driver, Matthew Clinton, 30, Arient Road and passenger Jamie Okane, 25, Carriage Way. Clinton was arrested as he tried to discard drug paraphernalia. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of Jaime Okane for an outstanding $120 traffic warrant out Freehold Township Municipal Court, the chief said.

A search led to Okane’s arrest for the discovery of 95 bags of heroin.

Both Clinton and Okane were charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance. Clinton was also issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while suspended and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, DiBella said.

They were both processed and released on criminal summonses, the chief said.
