NRC Selects New Oyster Creek Resident Inspector
Amar Patel can serve at Oyster Creek for up to seven years

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission announced that Amar Patel was selected as the Resident Inspector at Oyster Creek Generating Station.
“Amar Patel has the training, experience and commitment to safety that will help the NRC carry out its mission of protecting people and the environment and ensure Exelon continues to safely operate Oyster Creek,” said NRC Region I Administrator Bill Dean.
Patel was most recently the Resident Inspector at the Hope Creek power plant in Lower Alloways Creek Township in New Jersey. He joined NRC’s Region 1 staff in 2002 after earning a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Drexel University.

Following the completion of the NRC’s Nuclear Safety Professional Development Program and an inspector qualification program, Patel was a reactor inspector at plants throughout the Northeast.
Each power plant in the U.S. has two NRC resident inspectors. The inspectors conduct regular inspections, monitor work projects and interact with plant employees. Resident inspectors serve for up to seven years at any one site.
