Police: Lacey Teen in Jail After Attempted Burglary

Criminal mischief, thefts and burglaries for the last week

A Forked River teen was arrested and charged with burglary after he was caught in the act, police said.

Cory Festa, 19, of Forked River and a 16-year-old Forked River female were found inside a Beach Boulevard home when the resident returned on Tuesday, July 31, police said.

Fest was believed to be going through the bedroom of the home when the police arrived at 5:45 a.m. The 16-year-old female fled prior to police arrival, police said.

Both Festa and the 16-year-old female were unknown to the resident.

Festa was charged with one count of burglary, one count of criminal attempt and one count of theft. He was sent to Ocean County Jail with bail set at $10,000. He couldn’t post bail, police said.

Charges are forthcoming for the 16-year-old.

July 30
A burglary alarm for a Yorktown Drive in Forked River home went off and police responded. It was discovered that someone tampered with the window but entrance was not made into the home and nothing was taken. 

July 30
An outside steel double arch arbor was stolen from the front yard of a Maywood Place home in Forked River. The value of the double arch arbor was $200. 

July 28
A Gary Fisher Bike valued at $300 was stolen from a shed on Parker Street in Forked River. 

July 29
The window for a camper parked at a home on Holmes Avenue in Forked River was broken. There was $500 in damage. Police responded to the same home a day prior for a report of another window that was broken on the same camper. 

July 29
An unlocked motor vehicle parked on Taurus Court in Forked River was entered and approximately $15 in coins and other money was taken. 

July 28
A Jeep parked on Lakeside Drive East in Forked River was entered after the soft top was cut for entry. Approximately $123 worth of property including a men’s wallet with various credit cards and person identification was stolen. 

July 28
The driver side window of a car parked on Serpentine Drive in Forked River was broken. An American flag valued at $10 located inside the car was stolen. The damage to the window amounted to $200. 

July 27
Someone spray painted a speed limit and a no parking sign at the end of Orlando Drive. The Department of Public Works was contacted to repair the signs. 

July 27
An Olds Street, Forked River resident reported that a Handycam Camcorder valued at $170 and a debit card was stolen from the home. There was no sign of forced entry.
