Lawrence HS Senior Muscles His Way To Gold In Special Olympics Regional Powerlifting
Devlin Maloney will compete in all 3 powerlifting events at the Special Olympics Statewide Championship on June 9.

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ — Lawrence High School senior Devlin "Rock" Maloney showcased his exceptional strength and determination at the 2025 Powerlifting Regional Competition hosted by Special Olympics New Jersey on April 12.
Maloney earned a Gold medal in the bench press and was placed 4th in both the squat and deadlift categories.
This marks the third year of powerlifting competition for Maloney, whose journey began during his freshman year with encouragement from LHS staff member Mr. Deak. His talent was recognized by Mr. Reardon during his sophomore year, who invited him to join the Special Olympics team and became his first official coach.

Maloney now also trains under the guidance of LHS senior Nicholas Shenouda, whose friendship and support have been instrumental in Maloney's athletic development.
Following his impressive performance, Maloney was invited to the Superintendent's Suite for an interview with LTPS Communications Manager Jen Baldassari and Board of Education President Michele Bowes.

During the interview, he proudly displayed his medals while discussing his training regimen, competition experience, and future goals.
Maloney's athletic journey continues on June 7, when he will compete in all three powerlifting events at the Special Olympics New Jersey Statewide Championship at The College of New Jersey.
